5-8 Principal (Full-Time, Administration)

Springfield Christian School (SCS) seeks a highly skilled and qualified educational leader to be its first 5-8 Principal. This full-time, administrative-level position is targeted to begin July 1, 2018.

The 5-8 Principal serves as the spiritual and educational leader for Grades 5th through 8th at SCS, with comprehensive responsibility for all activities involving students and faculty within this division. Essential duties include (1) leading faculty; (2) directing curriculum development, Biblical integration, and academic goal setting; (3) building school culture; and (4) expanding and strengthening SCS by assisting with admissions. They will lead a team of 15 full and part-time faculty to together partner with parents to provide an exceptional Christian education for the approximately 175 SCS students in Grades 5th through 8th. The 5-8 Principal will report directly to the SCS Superintendent and will be an integral part of the school’s administrative team.

This person shall reflect the purpose of SCS, which is to equip students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him. As a member of the SCS staff, they must live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents, and team members.

Candidates for the 5-8 Principal position should have prior successful leadership experience. We will carefully and prayerfully evaluate all candidates for this position according to the following essential criteria:

  • Christ-follower with a clearly communicated and Biblically-sound faith experience – evidence of a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ;
  • Active participation in a healthy evangelical church with faith and practice similar to West Side Christian Church and Springfield Christian School;
  • Capability to lead oneself, and others, to be emotionally and spiritually healthy;
  • Loves working with parents, faculty, staff, and students, with a passion for connecting students with Christ and His mission;
  • Ability to guide and grow teachers such that they lead students to achieve excellent outcomes;
  • Belief in Biblical integration within academics, with the ability to implement and expand this framework;
  • Resilience, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a commitment to working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Additionally, the 5-8 Principal must possess:

  • Successful teaching experience (preferably in an ACSI school);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Understanding of best practice in academically rigorous settings;
  • Previous leadership experience (preferably in school administration, and in an ACSI school);
  • ACSI Administrator Certification (or the ability to earn this certification upon hire);
  • At least a master’s degree in education or a related field.

Jr. High Science Teacher (Full-Time, Instructional Staff)

SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: Ability to lead SCS Jr. High students to master the Grades 6-8 Science Curriculum.

NOTE: This full-time position includes responsibilities in SCS Student Support (helping meet student needs by providing additional academic and behavioral supports). SCS leaders will determine whether to continue including these responsibilities based on our successful candidate and what’s best for our students. Separating the Student Support responsibilities will likely make this role part-time.

Honors Math Teacher (Part-Time, Instructional Staff)

SPECIAL QUALIFICATION: Ability to lead advanced students in Jr. High to successfully master higher levels of mathematics, leading up to Algebra II.

After School Program Director (Part-Time, Support Staff)

The After School Program Director provides leadership for the SCS After School Program. The director must possess strong leadership and communication skills, and have a proven track-record of positive experience working with children, including demonstrating responsibility, hard-work, and flexibility. The After School Program Director leads a team of 5-6 After School Program staff who together provide programming for 50+ children after school each day. The director will work with this team to plan centers for students, oversee implementation of that programming by staff, communicate with parents about the program and their students, supervise program staff, and execute other aspects of the program.

As a member of the SCS staff, they must live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents, and team members.

The After School Program Director will:

  • Evidence a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Have a passion for connecting students with Christ and His mission
  • Lead others and themselves to be emotionally and spiritually healthy
  • Lead staff and the program to be fun and safe in a way that honors Christ and the mission of SCS
  • Have previous experience with students and management/leadership
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution (preferred), or a minimum of an Associate’s degree in an educational or related field

SCS Cafeteria Supervision Aides will assist SCS administration and the SCS Cafeteria Director in the supervision of SCS students while they are in the cafeteria from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM each school day that SCS serves lunch. Working to support our students through helping us implement our child nutrition program, SCS Cafeteria Supervision Aides should be able to effectively and lovingly manage students, as they will primarily serve through student supervision (and occasionally assist with clean-up). All who serve in this role should reflect the purpose of the school, which is to equip students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him. SCS staff members live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. SCS Cafeteria Supervision Aides must love Christ and children!

SCS Cafeteria Supervision Aides:

  • Have prior experience working with children (preferred, but not required)

Classroom Aide (Part-time, Support Staff)

Classroom aides at SCS work closely with the classroom teacher, assisting in equipping students to follow Christ, and impact the world for Him.  SCS staff live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. SCS aides provide added instructional, supervisory and organizational supports to students and classroom teachers on a daily basis.  Aides are occasionally called upon to assist in other areas of the school as needed.

SCS Classroom Aides:

SCS Kitchen Assistant (Part-Time, Support Staff)

SCS Kitchen Assistants will assist the SCS Cafeteria Director in the preparation and serving of the school’s lunch and snack programs. Working to provide for a healthy child nutrition program, SCS Kitchen Assistants will primarily serve through food preparation, serving, and clean-up. All who serve in this role should reflect the purpose of the school, which is to equip students to follow Christ and impact the world for Him. SCS staff members live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. SCS Kitchen Assistants must love Christ, children, and preparing food for people!

SCS Kitchen Assistants:
