PTF Hosts Wildcat Carnival

On Saturday, April 26, SCS Parent Teacher Fellowship hosted the Wildcat Carnival.  It was an outdoor event that featured bounce houses, carnival games, a clown, balloon art, food and much more.  Parents, students and friends of SCS enjoyed the warm weather and fellowship, as well as the food!  The monies raised at this event will be combined with other funds raised by PTF and will be used for improvements to the school playground.  Parent Teacher Fellowship exists to enhance school relationships and learning opportunities for SCS students and families; they are one more reason why SCS has such a compelling school community!

Visit the Parent Teacher Fellowship page to find out more.

Coach Sherwood chosen as “Coach of the Year”

Coach Rase Sherwood has been chosen as Jr. High “Coach of the Year” for our district by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.  In the 2013/2014 season, Coach Sherwood led the SCS 7th Grade Girls basketball team to a 3rd place finish in the State Basketball Tournament. Coach Sherwood will be honored at a banquet on April 26 in Bloomington.  He is a great example of the outstanding and selfless coaches who give of their time and talents to develop Christ-like character among student athletes while helping to cultivate God-given athletic gifts.

Congrats, Coach!  This is a well deserved honor!  Visit Springfield Christian School Athletics to learn more about our successful athletic programs.

Kindergarten Preview Night 2014

Parents: What kind of person do you hope your child will be 10 years from now?  Where do you hope they will be in their life journey as a 15 or 16 year old?  Where do you envision them being 10,000 years from now (eternally)?

Whether you realize it or not, the Kindergarten through Eighth Grade years will be an important factor in the answers to these questions.  Read the rest of this entry »
